The Urban Leadership Lab: BSA Merit & “Achievement” Badge Training Programs
Event on 2014-09-08 18:15:00

PROGRAM OVERVIEW:

In Coordination with the Occoneechee Council (Mawat District):
The Boy Scouts of America is the largest youth organization in the United States, with over five million members in its age-related divisions. More than 110 million Americans have been members in the history of the BSA.  Merit Badges are one of the main areas of achievement and ranking within the Boy Scout’s advancement program, which seeks to align young men with access to the kinds of character, life, and career skills that will prepare them for opportunities beyond their Eagle Scout aspirations.   *The Urban Leadership Lab's "Merit Badge Training Program" extends training opportunities to Raleigh-Durham, NC scouts interested in acquiring badges in “Entrepreneurship,” “American Business,” “Civility in the Community,” “Salesmanship,” and “Personal Management.”  Our workshops aim to provide attendees with exposure to career, social, developmental, and entrepreneurial resources, while encouraging them to explore ways to improve themselves and the communities in which they live!

*Non-scouting youth enrolled in our "EXPLORER"  program are welcome to register for any of training sessions, and will receive an "Achievement" Badge/Certification of completion.

"ENTREPRENEURSHIP" MERIT BADGE:
"Independent business owners ourselves, each member of our staff recognizes the opportunity that we have in creating a new generation of innovators and job creators!  We believe that there is real value in both building healthy alliances to support the entrepreneurial ambitions of our youth, and have designed a curriculum to support the interests of our community’s emerging entrepreneurs!"
